The starting question
Which exact assembly and procedure does the tightening requirement apply to?

Which part do you need help with?
Start with what you know. Keep the undecided details open for discussion.

Which interfaces must stay fixed, and what can change?
Identify the complete joint
Record the fastener part number or specification, size and pitch, strength designation, coating, mating thread or insert, washers and clamped materials. Describe what the joint must hold and which dimensions control the actual engagement.
Keep the required function and load case separate from a catalogue size. The threaded-hole brief records geometry and open questions; it does not select a bolt grade, prove thread strength or determine a tightening torque.
Keep the installation conditions with the number
Ask for the applicable assembly procedure, torque units, lubrication and surface conditions, and whether the head or nut is turned. Record any locking feature and permitted reuse conditions as requirements to resolve, rather than assuming that a generic chart covers them.
NASA-STD-5020A with Change 1 explains that torque-preload behavior depends on lubrication and assembly configuration. This cited spaceflight document is supporting context, not a claim that its requirements govern your product or that this historical edition is your current contract standard.
Do not substitute a calculator preset for a specification
The inherited TPM model combines strength data, a chosen preload fraction and empirical nut factors; its stretch illustration assumes a particular steel modulus and grip length. These tables and assumptions have not been independently validated for import here. We provide no torque recommendation or capacity calculation from them.
Request a requirement supported by the responsible designer, component supplier or approved joint procedure. Record the exact revision and scope of that answer. A checked checklist documents the questions discussed; it does not approve the joint for service.
